3 Methods to fade away hair dye
Did you dye your hair recently and regretting it now due to the dark shade of the dye? This has happened to many of us at some point in life. The first thing that anyone in this situation will want to do is fade away the hair dye. Question is how to do it without damaging the hair. There are three methods to fade away the hair dye, out of which you can choose the one which suits you.
- The safest method
The safest methods of reducing hair dye shade are repetitive shampooing, rinsing with hot water and hot oil treatment.
After making the decision of dye removal, the first thing that you will need to do is to jump into the shower. The earlier you shampoo you hair, the better it is for removing the dye. Remember if you don’t shampoo for several days after hair dye, it will become harder to remove it which means the sooner the better. You also need to make sure that you use clarifying shampoo and then repeat the process several times until the desired shade is achieved.
Heat is good for removing dye so after you shampoo, you can wash off your hair with hot water to strip away the dye. You can repeat the process several times along with shampooing.
Hot oil treatment
While you do the two above mentioned procedures repeatedly, they will leave your hair dry and brittle. You can give your hair hot oil treatment to regain the moisture. Hot oil treatment will not only condition your hair but it will also strip away the dye in the process.
- Exposure to natural elements
Second method of removing the unwanted dark hair dye is exposing your hair to natural elements. Natural elements include sunlight and salted water.
Sunlight reduces the dye shade effectively and turns your hair into a lighter shade. This method will not show results instantly. It will take you time to strip away the hair dye with sunlight exposure.
Swim in sea water
Water at the sea side is highly salted and can help you in removing the hair dye effectively. You can go for swim at sea side more often which will result in removal of hair dye as salt helps in loosening the dye. You can alternatively go for swim in pool as well. Pool water has chlorine which will act as color remover. However it is advised not to rely on this method completely as chlorine will make the hair brittle.
- Home remedies
Vitamin C treatment and baking soda
You can remove the hair dye by applying paste made out of crushed vitamin C tablets and water. It will help you in removing the hair dye. You can also try baking soda paste which is made up of half cup of baking soda and half cup of water. Apply the baking soda paste for 15 minutes and then rinse it out with water. You will notice drastic difference.
If none of above satisfied you then you can use chemical hair dye remover. Chemical hair dye remover should be considered in the last as chemicals can damage the hair and cause spilt ends. Read the instructions before applying it and make sure you test it on a patch of hair instead of applying to whole head. After using it you must condition your hair to repair the damage.
